An inauguration for the new Changchun Gear Transmission Research Center was held on September 9 at FAW Car Co.,Ltd.’s Changchun Gear division. The new transmission research center will be operated by FAW Group’s Engineering Development and Test Center.

With the rapid development of China’s domestic automobile market, transmission requirements have greatly diversified. To continue its lead position in transmission development and satisfy future consumer demands, FAW Car Co., Ltd.’s Changchun Gear division and FAW Group’s Engineering Development and Test Center collaborated to form the new Changchun Gear Transmission Research Center, with the goal of developing and producing a wide variety of advanced, proprietary design transmissions that meet the various demands of market. The project is a dynamic new concept designed to close the gap between R&D and production, bringing the advantages and resources of each together to speed up development progress and stimulate technical innovation. The founding of the research center will assist the Changchun Gear division in accelerating its product development ability while FAW Group’s Engineering Development and Test Center can gain from the Changchun Gear division’s advanced production techniques and abundant technical experience as it develops and evaluates more efficient product development, mass production methods, and improved quality control. 

The Changchun Gear Division of FAW Car Co., Ltd. has a modern 150,000 sq. m. production facility with approximately 2,000 employees. Employing the latest precision manufacturing equipment, products include 1-3 ton light truck transmissions and Audi type 016 5-speed manual transmissions.
