On July 14, FAW Group inaugurated its scientific and technological innovation base in Changchun.

Qiu Xiandong, deputy secretary of the CPC FAW Group Committee and president of FAW, stated at the ceremony, “The completion and operation of the sci-tech innovation base demonstrates the firm resolution and determination of FAW in implementing the CPC Central Committee’s decisions and plans, and advancing innovation-driven development strategy; it also reflects FAW’s stong sense of responsibility and practical measures to implement the requirements of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government of Jilin in advancing innovation-driven development of auto industry of the province. It will definitely promote FAW’s independent scientific and technological capabilities, and inject strong impetus for Jilin province to achieve new breakthroughs in comprehensive revitalization and the high-quality development of China’s automobile industry.”

The construction of the innovation base started in March, 2020. Covering an area of 260,000 square meters, it has the capacity for 3,000 R&D personnel to engage in the research and development of core technologies related to NEVs and intelligent connection.
