FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., a passenger car joint venture between FAW Group Corporation (FAW), and Volkswagen AG, announced that its new technology development center was inaugurated on November 29 in Changchun, capital city of northeast China’s Jilin province.

“It is hoped that FAW-Volkswagen to firmly embrace the development trend of auto electrification, intelligent, sharing and connectivity, uphold the customer-centered, innovation-driven and market-oriented development concept and continue to enhance the innovation capacity,” said Jing Junhai, Party chief of Jilin province, adding that FAW-Volkswagen should contribute more to the overall revitalization of Jilin province in the new era.

Xu Liuping, chairman of FAW Group Corporation, said at the inauguration ceremony，“the completion of FAW-Volkswagen’s technology development center demonstrates its strong sense of responsibility in pursuing innovation-driven development and achieving high-quality industrial transformation and upgrading. It will surely enhance the company’s technical R&D strength, and boost its high-quality development in the future.”

With a construction area of 70,000 square meters, the new development center boasts industry leading experiment equipments, covering six major fields including vehicle energy consumption and emission test center, vehicle body component test center, driving system test center, vehicle safety-crash test center, NEV center workshop, and intelligent lighting system test center. The completion of the center will fill the gap of experiment and development of automobile industrial chains in Jilin province, and provide a strong support for the collaboration between enterprises, universities and research institutes.
