FAW Q1 Vehicle Sales Up 10.2 Percent

FAW Group announced on April 5 that vehicle sales in the January-March period increased 10.2 percent year on year to 736,000 units. FAW deliveries in March rose 19.8 percent year on year to 267,000 vehicles.

It is predicted that China’s vehicle deliveries increased 4.5 percent year on year to 6.43 million in the first three months.

FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co. Ltd., the joint venture of FAW Group and Volkswagen AG, sold 435,000 vehicles in the first quarter, up 10.4 percent year on year. VW's brands have sold 306,000 vehicles, rose 11.8 percent year on year; Audi, with sales of 129,000 vehicles, retained bragging rights as China's leading premium brand.

FAW Toyota Motor Co., a joint venture between FAW Group and Toyota Motor Corporation, said its deliveries soared 43.7 percent year on year in the first quarter to 154,000 vehicles. By the March 30, 2016, the total sales of FAW Toyota have reached 5 million vehicles since the JV established in 2002.

FAW Jiefang’s Q1 sales jumped 36.5 percent year on year to 46,000 units, while its market share predicted up to 21 percent, an increase of 5 percent over the same period last year.
