FAW Group Corporation (FAW) announced on Jan 5 that its annual sales exceeded 3 million units again in 2016, with its wholesale deliveries and terminal sales surged 9.2 percent and 10.9 percent year on year to 3.106 million and 3.147 million units respectively.
FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between FAW Group and Volkswagen AG, sold 1,854,000 units in 2016, surged 13.5 percent over last year. Deliveries of the company’s VW brand reached 1,315,000 units, an increase of 17.3 percent compared with a year ago. Audi, with sales of 536,000 units, also maintained its leading position in China’s luxury brand market. Sales of Audi A3 and Audi Q3 were up 31.7 percent to 85,000 units and 29.7 percent to 89,000 units respectively.
Sales of FAW Mazda were up 10.3 percent to 92,000 vehicles in last year. Deliveries of CX-4 were 38,000 units.
FAW’s Jiefang brand delivered 214,000 units in 2016, surged 54.3 percent year on year. Sales of Jiefang medium and heavy duty trucks grew 54.3 percent to 196,000 units. FAW’s Jiefang brand maintained leading position in commercial truck market for 12 consecutive months.
Sales of FAW Jilin Automotive were 74,000 units in 2016, up 42.8 percent year on year. Deliveries of R7 SUV reached 45,000 units.
