FAW-Volkswagen, the joint venture of FAW Group and Volkswagen AG, announced the production of its 15 millionth automobile on Aug 21. The car, an Audi A6L e-tron, a plug-in hybrid model, rolled off the production line in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province, representing a historical moment in the development of FAW-Volkswagen.

Up to present, FAW-Volkswagen has 14 main products of Volkswagen and Audi brands. It takes 20 years and 8 months for FAW-Volkswagen to produce from the first automobile to the 5 millionth, 3 years and 2 months from the 5 millionth to the 10 millionth, and only 2 years and 8 months from the 10 millionth to the 15 millionth.

FAW-Volkswagen also released its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) achievements at the event. In terms of basic responsibilities, FAW-Volkswagen has made great efforts in operation, products, industrial contribution, employee responsibility and environment management. The joint venture had paid 400 billion yuan ($60 billion) in taxes over the past 26 years, making an energy-saving and environment-friendly industry chain of car production together with more than 1,000 dealers and suppliers. In terms of social responsibilities, FAW-Volkswagen has invested over 46 million yuan (RMB) per year in environmental protection, natural disaster relief, traffic safety, and community construction.

Total sales over 15 million is a new starting point for FAW-Volkswagen. Under the support of 15 million owners and 40 thousand employees, FAW-Volkswagen will keep on moving forward and practicing social responsibility in the future.
