FAW Raises its Donation to 81mln Yuan to Fight Against Novel Coronavirus

FAW Group announced on Feb. 1 to raise its donation for the battle of epidemic prevention and control to 81 million yuan from 17 million yuan, and establish a special fund to facilitate the control of the novel coronavirus.

Along with its two subsidiaries – FAW-Volkswagen and FAW Toyota – FAW Group donated a total of 17 million yuan to Hubei province, the outbreak epicenter on Jan 27. The donation has been used for purchasing medical protective materials, equipment, emergency vehicles and other necessities to help fighting against the novel coronavirus in Hubei province. 

The epidemic prevention and control work has entered a critical stage due to the post-festival travel peak. The increased donation from FAW Group is scheduled to be used on the following three aspects to fight the epidemic.

1. Expand the scope of prevention and control, and strengthen treatment measures

The first batch of donation of 17 million yuan has been used for providing medical and protective materials, emergency vehicles, and assisting families with financial difficulties in Wuhan city. The use of the increased donation will be extended from Wuhan city to the whole country, and the prevention and control domains will be expanded from medical and health sector to transportation and mobility, enterprises in epidemic-hit areas and poverty-stricken counties and villages.

2. Enhance Vehicle Cleaning and Disinfection

FAW will work with local transportation authorities to intensify cleaning, disinfection, and sanitation of public transport, to contain virus infection during transportation and mobility.

3. Establish a Special Fund to Improve the Precise Capability in Fighting the Epidemic

FAW Group has established a special fund to make a scientific and overall planning on the focus and timing of the use of the donation depending on the development of epidemic prevention and control, and support the national fighting against the epidemic in a sustainable manner.

Furthermore, FAW-Volkswagen announced that medical staff from Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jilin provinces and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, who are FAW-Volkswagen brand vehicle owners and participated in the frontline of the battle against the epidemic in Hubei province, will receive a free basic maintenance service for one year. FAW Jiefang issued a notice on special service policies during the period of epidemic prevention and control, noting that preferential services will be given to Jiefang trucks that transporting medical or emergency materials to epidemic-hit areas, as well as free repair and roadside assistance services.
